Traverse City Maker’s Market exists to encourage the connection between individuals and independent Michigan artists in an effort to support handmade Michigan art and increase indie art awareness in Traverse City, thus enriching its cultural scene.
Traverse City Maker’s Market

The independent craft movement in the United States is growing larger every year. As a response to our nation’s increasingly mass-produced culture, more and more individuals have been getting in touch with their creative nature—picking up their brushes and scissors and needles and thread—to participate in one of the most fundamental and essentially human activities: creating.
While some have found a love for making beautiful things, others have rediscovered the joy and satisfaction that comes with owning beautiful things made by human hands, and people more than ever want to connect directly to the artists whose work they love.
As online market places like Etsy and countrywide events like Traverse City Makers Market have been doing for years, we wanted to connect the folks in our area creating beautiful things to the folks looking for beautiful things. Thus, the Traverse City Makers Market was born. So far, the event has been even better than we hoped. We’ve received great feedback from vendors and attendees of past markets, and we’re excited to grow and improve in coming years.
Stepping It Up for 2014
We’ve teamed up with The Village of Grand Traverse Commons and, in order to grow, have moved the Market outdoors! We’ll be nestled among the lovely buildings at the Village (once home to the Traverse City State Hospital) and we couldn’t be more thrilled abut it.
As always, you can expect not just an art fair, but a super-cool event for people of all ages and walks-of-life who simply love being a part of the creative process.
Maker’s Market is already one of northern Michigan’s can’t-miss events. So don’t miss it!
See you in September!
